Lao DSM/EE Program

Task Objectives
The objective of this task is the evaluation of the feasibility of an efficient lighting program using Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) and thin-tube Fluorescent Tube Lights (TTFTL), in the residential and commercial sectors.  If feasible, a suitable program will be designed for Lao PDR.  The design will consider regional experience in utility-sponsored CFL programs, primarily Vietnam, India, South Africa and the Philippines; and also the potential application of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) for such a program that would enhance the financial viability.
